Section 17 due October 15
1. Greatest Common Divisors are back! I just think it's so interesting that we're covering all the topics in this class that I learned about in 4th grade but then haven't really used. Long division with remainders is a good example of that. The algorithm for calculating GCD's seems pretty straightforward.
2. Math is old. So old. It's actually kind of amazing to me. The beginning of the chapter was about Euclid and it was honestly kind of inspiring to me. It's cool to be learning about things that people have thought about for thousands of years. And it's also impressive that there were men who came up with these brilliant solutions that long ago. I think there's an attitude of conceit that pervades the modern psyche. We think we're so much smarter than those who went before, when that's not the case at all. We're fortunate to stand on the shoulders of giants. We're blessed to be inheritors of eons of problem solving. It's humbling to think about.
