EXTRA CREDIT BLOG

I went to the guest lecture given by Amanda Fracis. She talked all about the reviewing process for math publications at her company. It was interesting to hear from the perspective of a Ph.D. holder. I also underestimated the number of academic papers that are being published. Like thousands are published every month. This makes the task of getting published seem easier... but also more pointless. Like, what is the point of getting published? Do you hope that someone somewhere will keep building on what you've started? Is success actually measured in citations? That's what I've heard. I also haven't considered the vast array of fields to do research in. Math is big.
