Section 5, due on September 5

1. The most difficult, or perhaps tedious thing we've done so far has been truth tables. It's just a lot of work to create a table to track truth values and have to iterate it over and over to build up to more complex statements. Thankfully it's conceptually straightforward. Section 5 seems to be the next logical step in developing our mathematical vocabulary. My biggest concern is memorizing the logical equivalences that seem to be more common, like De Morgan's law. Negating imperatives is straightforward, particularly if you keep in mind the English equivalences to the math symbols.

2. I'm just excited to be learning the secrets of real mathematical notation! As an economics major, I've taken some upper level Econ classes that rely on more sophisticated mathematical notation (like what we're learning) in order to establish economic theory. I wish I had taken this class concurrently with those classes! It was kind of a trial by fire to learn the notation as I went. My experiences in those classes however has also given me a little more exposure to mathematical notation and made this class that much easier.
